(Washington, DC) – As the United States House of Representatives prepares to develop the first Congressional budget in two years, leaders are set to address a budget deficit expected to exceed $1 trillion. Log Cabin Republicans issued the following statement:

"The American people spoke in last fall's election. They are tired of reckless and out of control spending that is saddling the public and future generations with enormous debt," said R. Clarke Cooper, Executive Director of the Log Cabin Republicans. "It is time for Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Budget Chairman Paul Ryan and Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers to keep their commitment to rolling back deficit spending. In a time of such economic uncertainty it is key for Congress to focus on creating jobs for the American people, not increasing its own waistline with unneeded programs. Congress must reduce government spending across the board, while eliminating programs that do not serve the American people."
