Log Cabin Republicans Stand with House GOP to Avoid Massive Tax Hike on American Businesses and Families
(Washington, DC) – As the House of Representatives prepares to address the impending expiration of the 2001 and 2003 tax rate reductions, Log Cabin Republicans stand with House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) in calling for an across-the-board extension of this important tax relief.
"Voters sent a message on Election Day that what matters most is the economy and job creation," said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director. "The Democrats' proposal is a job-killer, plain and simple. Now is not the time to be raising taxes when 15 million Americans are out of work and American families and small businesses are already tightening their belts. If the House doesn't take action on extending tax relief, every American will receive a smaller paycheck in the new year. Imposing the largest tax hike in history is not the solution to our nation's economic problems. Log Cabin Republicans call upon the House of Representatives to continue the common-sense tax relief enacted ten years ago."
