Statement of RNC Chairman Jim Nicholson on the Killing of Matthew Shepard

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Republican National Committee Chairman Jim Nicholson today issued the following statement concerning the beating death of University of Wyoming freshman Matthew Shepard:

"There is no room in the Party of Lincoln for hate. We condemn violence in all its forms, and join with all Americans in deploring this stunningly brutal, savage beating and murder. I extend my sincere personal condolences and prayers to the family of Matthew Shepard.

The perpetrators of this vicious and indefensible act must be brought to justice, and punished to the fullest extent of the law."
