Log Cabin Salutes Mayor Rudolph Giuliani of New York
"Hearts and Prayers" with Mayor as He Ends His Senate Campaign
(WASHINGTON, DC) – The nation's largest gay Republican organization expressed regret today that Mayor Rudolph Giuliani (R) has decided to end his campaign for the United States Senate, but added that his gay and lesbian supporters stand with him as he fights prostate cancer.
"Mayor Giuliani is a fighter, a champion and a courageous leader, and our hearts and prayers are with him now when he needs it the most," said James Wagstaff, President of Log Cabin Republicans of New York City. "We hope for a quick and total recovery, and we will stand with Mayor Giuliani now and in the future."
"Of course, we are saddened that Mayor Giuliani will not be a candidate for Senate, but we stand with him at this critical moment in his life, and we hope he will have a long, vibrant life in politics and leadership ahead of him," said Kevin Ivers, Director of Public Affairs for Log Cabin Republicans in Washington, D.C. "His most important decisions still lie ahead for him right now, and all our best wishes go to him."
Log Cabin Republicans is the nation's largest gay and lesbian Republican organization, with state and local chapters nationwide, a full-time national office and a federal political action committee.
