Van Scoyoc Associates Will Help Log Cabin Pursue 2005 Reform Agenda

(Washington, DC) – As part of Log Cabin's ambitious 2005 legislative reform agenda, they have hired the prestigious government affairs firm of Van Scoyoc Associates. Log Cabin is proud that two of the firm's leading lobbyists, Stu Van Scoyoc and Jeff Trinca, will be representing Log Cabin with Congressional Republicans and the Administration.

Stu Van Scoyoc is Chief Executive Officer of Washington, D.C.'s largest independent government affairs group, the Van Scoyoc Companies. In 1990, he founded Van Scoyoc Associates (VSA) with a focus on Congressional appropriations and taxation. VSA quickly developed more than twenty practice areas, ranging from agriculture, biotechnology, defense and education, to areas such as financial services, energy, homeland security, transportation, and telecommunications.

Van Scoyoc's consulting expertise is based on several career highlights. Prior to the establishment of the Van Scoyoc Companies, he was a founding partner of Winburn, Van Scoyoc & Hooper government relations firm. In addition, Van Scoyoc spent eight years as vice-president at the prestigious Charles Walker Associates, where he specialized in tax, energy, insurance and environmental matters.

Jeff Trinca serves as a Vice President and is a founding member of Van Scoyoc Associates. Trinca specializes in tax, health, and retirement issues in Congress and the executive agencies.

During a one-year sabbatical, Trinca served as Chief of Staff to the National Commission on Restructuring the Internal Revenue Service, co-chaired by Representative Rob Portman (OH) and Senator J. Robert Kerrey (NE). In that role, Trinca was the main strategist, executive manager, and advisor to the co-chairs and other commissioners of the congressional commission.

During his tenure on the Hill, Trinca provided advice and guidance on all tax, retirement, and budget bills passing through Congress and the Committee on Finance: the Tax Reform Act of 1986; the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1986; the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987; the Technical and Miscellaneous Revenue Act of 1988; and the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1989.
