The Georgia Log Cabin Republicans congratulate Rep. Mike Jacobs on his re-election victory

As a Republican, Rep. Mike Jacobs has continued to be a strong voice in the Georgia Legislature on helping to advance equality for all gay Georgians, and we look forward to working with our friend and ally over the next two years. This is also a great victory for our coalition partner, Georgia Equality, and their Fair Majority Plan, which includes reaching out to fair-minded Republicans who can support progressive gay legislation, and who we can depend on to help prevent anti-gay legislation.

We acknowledge the hurt and bruised feelings of our Democratic friends regarding Rep. Jacobs switching parties last year, but Georgia Log Cabin was happy and proud to welcome him home into the Republican Party. This party switch provided our community with another fair-minded Republican to join our other strong ally, Rep. Jill Chambers, in our Republican controlled state legislature. These are very historic times for our great state, and we should be proud, no other state in the entire South can boast of having two Republicans who are both vocally supportive of gay equality in their legislatures.
