Log Cabin Republican National and Log Cabin Colorado Launch Ad Campaign Targeting Rep. Polis' Job-Killing Ballot Initiatives
WASHINGTON, D.C. and Denver, CO - Today, Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) is launching a new ad campaign to educate Coloradans about U.S. Rep. Jared Polis' (D) push to ban responsible energy development. The campaign features a radio ad airing on several stations throughout Denver which highlights how Polis is dipping into his vast personal fortune to fund ballot initiatives to limit and potentially ban energy development in Colorado. Polis argues that the issue is one of "local control," however passage of his ballot initiatives would strip homeowners of their personal property rights, instead turning over control to politicians in towns and cities.
The radio ad argues: "Congressman Jared Polis is estimated to be worth more than 65 million dollars. He's using his personal wealth to fund a ballot initiative campaign in Colorado that would limit or ban responsible high tech energy development in the state. If that happens, it is estimated that Colorado could lose 8 billion dollars and 68,000 jobs in just the first five years. Congressman Polis has over 65 million reasons to fund his own selfish agenda. But most people in Colorado can't afford to pay for his ideas."
"Congressman Polis is the latest in a litany of limousine liberals who feels he knows what's best for everyone, but in reality he's nothing more than a NIMBY nanny-stater willing to dump millions of dollars of his fortune into a crusade to force everyday Americans to bend to his will," said LCR Executive Director Gregory T. Angelo. "Maybe if Polis spent less time counting his money and more time imagining what it must be like to own only one home, he'd realize that banning responsible energy development hurts Colorado's families."
Log Cabin Republicans of Colorado President George Gramer added:
"Log Cabin Republicans of Colorado has opposed Congressman Polis and his obsession with this bad-business ballot initiative for months. We're excited to join with Log Cabin Republicans National HQ in Washington, D.C. to turn up the heat in our fight for the individual liberty of all Coloradans by pushing against Polis' proposal."
