Log Cabin Republicans to House Democrats: "Shame!"
Washington, D.C. - Hours ago, after 43 Republicans boldly stood up and passed an amendment that asserted no federal contractor could discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity, House Democrats voted overwhelmingly to kill the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill to which it was attached.
"We should have known - those duplicitous Democrats are at it again!" Log Cabin Republicans President Gregory T. Angelo stated. "Headlines from the liberal media this afternoon are blaring that the House GOP killed this legislation, but the truth is that when given the choice between supporting the gay community and supporting runaway spending, nearly the entire House Democratic Caucus showed their true colors and voted in support of runaway spending by voting down the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill that would have upheld federal gay non-discrimination protections. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and her liberal colleagues should be ashamed they used the gay community as pawns in their quest to grow government bloat. This disingenuousness will likely not be forgotten by our GOP allies who voted in support of the gay community - nor will it be forgotten by Log Cabin Republicans."
