Michelle Bachmann's Pledge is Big Government At Its Worst

(Washington, DC) - Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann's choice to support an anti-freedom candidate pledge imposed by the Iowa group Family Leader demonstrates that she is far outside of the American mainstream.

"On matters of marriage and the family, Michelle Bachmann has the choice to live her life however she sees fit. However, living in a free society means that she has to accord the same freedom to everybody else. The agenda proposed by this pledge is big government at its worst," said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director. "From attacks on first amendment freedoms to demeaning female servicemembers to insidious slurs against gay and lesbian families, the Family Leader pledge is fundamentally anti-American and should be ignored by any serious presidential contender. Our nation is confronting serious issues at home and abroad. The last thing we need is Michelle Bachmann or any other politician dictating how we live our lives."
